The 8 Principles All my AI-Workflows Need to Follow

This week's tip: The principles I use first for validating my most valued AI-workflows.

I've developed 8 Principles that I use every time when I discover a task or workflow that might be a good fit for AI to take over.

Developing AI-driven workflows is the fastest and easiest way to adopt AI in your job and business. And with steady implementation comes efficiency and relief.

Unfortunately, most people have an extremely messy approach to AI.

Developing AI-supported workflows is about the included tasks as much as the final goal.

Much like everything I write, the key to overcoming the problems is having a clear strategy.

Here are my principles, step by step:

8 Principles AI-Workflows Need to Follow

1. Is your process repetitive or time consuming?

AI integration yields significant benefits when applied to frequent and repetitive processes, as it can automate tasks that are time-consuming and tedious for humans.

2. Does your process involve text generation or modification?

AI language models excel in processes that involve generating or modifying text, whether through templates or custom writing, as they can produce tailored and refined content efficiently.

3. Are numeric accuracy and equations unimportant?

Processes requiring precise numeric calculations might not be suitable for AI language models like ChatGPT, which specialize in language rather than mathematical tasks.

4. You need to synthesize information from various documents?

Processes that involve understanding, extracting, and synthesizing information from several documents are ideal for AI, which can detect patterns and generate insights effectively.

5. Does generating a first draft save time?

Generative AI is particularly useful in processes where producing initial drafts can save significant amount time and effort.

6. Can you be specific with your request AI?

The effectiveness of an AI model increases with the specificity of the request, including detailed prompts and clear examples of desired data and outputs.

7. Is high accuracy unimportant for your task?

If a process cannot tolerate errors and the stakes are high, it may not be suitable for AI, as language models typically generate text based on likelihood rather than accuracy.

8. Can your process include a human review step?

Processes that can incorporate a human review step, especially at critical stages, benefit from enhanced accuracy and reliability.

The goal is to answer at least 7 of the questions with YES! Only then a task or workflow is a good fit for generative AI tools like ChatGPT.
